Sézane Items Review
Quick thoughts on a selection of Sézane items I tried
Plain Ecru Embroidery
I was excited to try this blouse, as I’ve been looking for a piece that works well for layering but also looks good on its own. It’s made from 100% cotton, including the embroidery, which felt very promising.
On the website, the blouse looked beautiful and intricate without being overdone. I especially loved the lace detailing along the neckline and sleeves, and the color appeared like a clean, classic white.
Unfortunately, in real life it didn’t quite work for me. The sleeves are puffier at the shoulders than they appear online, which affected the overall silhouette. The back is also quite transparent, something that I wasn’t expecting.
That said, there are some positives. The embroidery across the blouse is beautiful, and the color is a true white rather than the ecru or cream color Sézane often uses for their blouses, which I liked.
Overall, the quality is good, besides the transparent back, and the blouse runs true to size — I took a 36, which is my usual size.
Burgundy Leather
I ordered this coat during the first launch, and I’ve noticed it’s being brought back again. I really wanted to love it, as I’ve been searching for a burgundy leather coat for quite some time, and the price felt reasonable for a long leather piece.
The first thing worth noting is the color. In real life, it’s slightly different from what’s shown online — more of an aubergine, purply-toned burgundy rather than a true red. Personally, I didn’t mind this and actually found the shade beautiful as well.
What didn’t work for me was the fit. The leather feels quite stiff (although it may soften over time), and because of that, the coat doesn’t drape as nicely as other Clyde styles. Another drawback is that the sleeves can’t really be rolled up like on other versions, which creates an oversized silhouette. On my frame, it felt overwhelming, and I think this coat would suit taller people better.
That said, the coat itself is undeniably beautiful, and the overall quality seems good. One small detail to note is that the leather finishing on the front edge is left raw, which was a small downside for me.
In terms of sizing, I would recommend taking your usual size if you plan on layering. I have ordered a 36, which is my regular size.
Ecru
This is a really beautiful crochet cardigan, and I was immediately drawn to its style.
The quality is excellent — it’s made from a thick, heavy cotton that feels substantial, and I especially loved the finishing along the neckline and sleeves. The crochet pattern itself is lovely, and the fabric-covered buttons are a thoughtful detail that elevates the overall look. The color is somewhere between white and ecru, leaning more towards ecru.
The only aspect that didn’t quite work for me was the way the sleeves fall. They flare out slightly, which isn’t very noticeable in photos, but on me it felt a bit overwhelming.
Another thing worth noting is the weight of the cardigan. Because it’s quite thick and heavy, I questioned its practicality — it reads as a summer cardigan visually, but in reality it might be too warm for most summer days.
That said, Sezane has since released a short-sleeved version called Norissa Shirt, which seems more practical, and I’m tempted to try.
Sizing-wise, the website’s recommendation is accurate. I took an S, which is my usual size.
